If you’ve ever visited a winery on a holiday, you know why we’re here… You don’t even have to be a wine buff to like visiting wineries. You could simply like a nice tipple and a bite to eat in a luscious setting. Or you might be curious about how hard-working people make beautiful produce from the land.

For these reasons and so many more, 10 million people visit Australian wineries every year.

But despite the sublime wine and the consciousness-altering landscapes, organising wine trips can be … let’s just say not as easy as it could be.

So many choices. Which wineries to visit? Boutique wineries your friends and everyone else haven’t already visited? Where to stay? How to get there?

In this, the smartphone era, if you’re not sure why someone hasn’t already come up with a solution to this lucky problem to have, neither were we.

And neither was our Founder and CEO, Judith Kennedy AM. You may have heard of Judith. This year she became a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia for significant services to the winemaking industry and to children’s health.

Judith is also Founder and CEO of the Association of Australian Boutique Winemakers and the Six Nations Wine Challenge.

Suffice to say, Judith gets it. She gets all the wine industry has to offer. She also gets what us wine lovers need to experience and enjoy Australia’s – and the world’s – wine regions.

Or, in Judith’s words:

I have spent 20 years working with cellar door wineries and the outstanding restaurants and accommodation businesses who support them in regions across Australia and all of the New World wine nations. In the majority of cases, cellar doors are the backbone of tourism in vibrant regional centres that are at the core of the tourism experience. To many, it’s a struggle for identity. To me it’s obvious that the answer is in combining them together, region by region, nation by nation, into one large family with the cellar doors as the pivot, and travellers as the key.

CELLARDOORS.CO is Judith’s brain child. It’s a way to more easily connect wine tourists with winemakers. It’s a world-first and it has been conceived and developed in Australia.

What’s not to love about that!?

So, what exactly is CELLARDOORS.CO? Let’s break it down…

We like to think of ourselves as wine trailblazers. And when we say ‘ourselves’ we mean us at CELLARDOORS.CO + wineries in beautiful regions everywhere + YOU. Through our app, our website and our books we are making it easy to connect wine lovers who love to travel or travellers who love wine with cellar doors, accommodation, restaurants, cafes, local attractions and more.

It’s not just us that thinks this is a good idea either. The likes of Expedia, the Six Nations Wine Challenge, the Association of Boutique Winemakers and many others have come on board with their support as well.

Are you ready to discover the world and wine like never before?

We’re officially launching the app, the site and our first book on 4 August 2017 at the Boutique Wines Trophy Presentation event at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney, but you can get ahead of the game by registering your interest below.

While you’re at it, check out our socials (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram). In coming posts, you can look forward to wine and travel tips, recommendations and some insights from Judith Kennedy as well as other notable wine industry identities.
