Heathcote’s history is very much steeped in gold, but it’s future is in red. This is an old gold rush town and a new wine region with red soil and beautiful shiraz and cabernet sauvignon (viognier and riesling also do well).

Warm in summer and less than two hours’ drive from Melbourne, Heathcote will have you at ‘heritage listed architecture’. The cellar doors are often family affairs and all have a unique back story.
