You know you’re in Padthaway when you find yourself on a 63km stretch of the Riddoch Highway with rows and rows of vineyards – framed by big, ol’ gum trees – on either side of the road.

For years, the region was predominantly for grape growing only, there are now more than 29 vignerons in Padthaway creating their own branded labels and for sale to other wine companies.

The grapes are commonly shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and pinot noir and while there aren’t a lot of cellar doors in this region, if you call ahead for an appointment, you can usually score a personal tasting tour.
