While you’re enjoying the wines of this region, take some time to thank the heavens for Italy. This place would not be what it is today without the Italian immigrants who made their way across the seas to a new continent and hemisphere only to say to themselves, “I think I’m going to make myself some vino.”
Barbera, sangiovese, nebbiolo, pinot grigio, sangiovese and moscato are almost as prevalent as the other local heroes (chardonnay, colombard, cabernet sauvignon and shiraz).
Just north of the Adelaide CBD is this hot and dry region that is beginning to grow. It’s not easy to find wineries that accept visitors here (although there are some – so extra wine discovery points when you find one).
